Our assignment was to create and build out a New Balance/Boston Marathon installation at a high-end, Boston shoe retailer called The Tannery. Our challenge was to tell the Boston story during the Boston Marathon through the authentic voice of NB – a brand “born” in Boston that shares the same running DNA as the marathon/marathoners. We achieved this by creating and combining a stew of b/w marathon photography, brick textures, sun glares, a typographic map that followed the route of the Boston Marathon, NB branding, and of course, NB sneakers. This not only got NB great buzz and The Tannery heavy foot traffic, but they also ended up selling out of the New Balance Special Edition Boston Marathon 890s.
